Scaffolding, disguised batons coming out of the walls, quiet images of resistance and long gazes through windows spread an atmosphere of decay and yet an appreciation of the current circumstances. The audience is invited to reflect on both the history and future of the space. The focus lies on the location Perla-Mode as a place with an eclectic history of uses: from a store to a performance and exhibition space. Different states, layers and pieces of reality will be framed, highlighted or represented.
In the exhibition STILL WHITE SHUT, four artists engage with space and its local and material idiosyncrasy using images to reveal ambivalent moments between standstill and movement, opening and closing, inside and outside, staged reality and actual fiction.
